Default Magus

Paul said that because people he was preaching to could not understand what he was preaching.(no comprehendea)

If you listen to people who are in cults they say the same thing and thats what worrys me./ I am not against religion in any way as my wife has beliefs(catholic school). My concern is that all religions out there(and variants) were created to explain what we can now understand thru science, math(star distance, planets)

So to uneducated and superstitious people religion can flourish.
Look at haiti(since its in the news) they have taken voodoo and incorperated it with christianity to create a hybrid of sorts.(saw it on the tele).( a very superstitious country created)

but since you gave me scriptures..

Numbers 23:19: God is not a man, that He should be deceitful, nor the
son of man, that He should repent. Would He say and not do, or speak and
not confirm?
Psalms 146:3: Do not rely on princes nor in the son of man, for he holds
no salvation.

Arrow The point

The point remains that Jeebus suffered for a weekend to rid the whole world of all sin for all time. But one sin puts a person in Hell for eternity.

And I'm really stretching it to say that he suffered for the whole weekend.

Exactly. The punishment Jesus endured was being alive. God made humanity, and human life, so horrible that even He could only stand 33 years of it.

And for this horrible existance that God wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole, we're supposed to be thankful?

Because humans need God ( whether they admit it or not - so don't give me the whole argument of atheists have no need for God - you won't actually know until you're dead)

Jesus was still a human, and gave up His human life. Who cares if He went back to Heaven - its not like He gained anything He didn't already have before He was killed.
Magus, it all sounds more like an adventure rather than a sacrifice. It was an adventure turned into a story, 'Jesus does Israel'. As far as I can tell Jesus gave up nothing.

You may be right. There certainly seems to be a hardwiring in humans to embrace religious thinking, no matter how circular or irrational it is; that's why it's so hard to break free of it, especially if indoctrinated at an early age. The easy route isn't always the correct one.

What humans need is guidance. It is unscrupulous, manipulative, deceptive people that convince others that god will guide them while all the while there is no god telling anybody anything that we have no need for. It is the Christian con that has been going on for a very long time with a large number of suckers that we have no need for.

You are not dead (and if that assumption is wrong, feel free to correct me) and yet somehow you "know" we do need god?
