No, it clearly supports it.
Edit: Here is an article that is related to this subject, though indirectly: http://www.rationalrevolution.net/ar...win_nazism.htm |

Dont' get me started!
No, the Bible is blatently pro-slavery. In my opinion this is the strongest argument against the idea that the Bible forms the basis for morality and law.
Defenders of slavery in the Antebellum South argued very forcefully that the Bible was pro-slavery, and any attempt to outlaw it, or even restrict it, was unscriptural. I think they were right. So, either the 13th Amendment is a sin, or the Bible is wrong on the subject of slavery. See my earlier rants on this subject: here here and here |

What I meant was I tend to go on a tirade about this everytime some fundie gives me the ole "our nation was founded on biblical principals" schtick. I usually ask them which biblical principals they mean. Slavery? Monarchy? Slaughtering native inhabitants? Sacrificing children? Offering your daughter to rapists? If these are the type of things condoned in the bible we are better off without it.

Well, Paul did rank slave traders right up there with people that kill their parents...

Biblical revelation hasn't, until relatively recently, been as broadly accepted as applying to all homo sapiens. Especially the OT.
Thus the slavery issue. Thus the killing of the innocent issues. Thus the general killing vs. murder issues. |
