And as I pointed out, the pronoun-challenged claim from spin was an English language claim so the Greek would have no bearing on who really read the Josephus translation properly. Only one person touched that issue. Apparently English is too difficult for folks here.
Now if you claim the English translation distorts the Greek meaning that is another issue that you are welcome to share here with all your 'tools necessary'. If you don't claim that then you are simply playing the usual Gibson-games, which don't work as well here as on forums where you can stall and kabosh responses. (Actually they don't play well there either.) Shalom, Steven Avery http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Messianic_Apologetic |

To sum up this thread, Josephus claimed that he translated the Jewish historical works. Some of his readers encouraged him to do so. I have argued that this suggests that he didn't have those texts available to him in Greek and that necessitated his translating them.
[A PCA version of the above is available on request.] ---o0o0o--- I (spin) sympathize with praxeus for having discovered that he (praxeus) suffers from Dissociative Pronoun Syndrome (PDS) and I (spin) wish his (praxeus's) group, the "Pronoun Challenged Association" the best of luck in their (PCA's) efforts to deal with the day-to-day struggle of comprehending texts without being able to link pronouns to their (the pronouns') references properly. I (spin)'m sure I (spin) speak for most when I (spin) hope he (praxeus) or they (PCA) can come to grips with the problem and finally move on to bigger and harder things, such as the Cat in the Hat. In solidarity, spin |

Let me also hope that prax can spice up his posts. Here are a few suggestions:
1. Don't keep the standard font color - mix up your colors to distract from 'arguments' 2. Don't just keep quoting from known scholarly articles - add some mysterious, unnamed scholars, vague net references, and appeals to 'general knowledge' - or simply deny someone else's presented argument. 3. Stop all of the direct analysis of texts in their original language - use global assertions instead. 4. The continual direct addressing of arguments is getting old - add some ad homs, attacks on moderators, strawmen 5. Don't go it alone - try and get fellow-believers to come to the board 6. Don't keep being objective, it's getting old - When you don't like an argument, try slandering known scholars with purple prose. 7. Try and appear less humble - you've made some great arguments about the age of the earth, radiometric dating, evolution, and the speed of light - flesh those arguments out. 8. Quit presenting such open-minded analyses - it's probable that the KJV was divinely inspired, inerrant, written by eye-witnesses, authored minutes after the events recounted, and was accurately transcribed under the very watchful eye of God himself. Don't be bashful about making such a claim without evidence. I hope this helps, too. |

Less focus on individuals and more focus on the OP and related evidence, please.

2) Spin's ragging (rather funny, granted) was based on the Pronoun-Challenge. Folks may want to know if they have the tools necessary to join the PCA. Or if spin was really just whistling dixie. <edit> Shalom, Steven Avery |
