Default Things that go boink in the night?

Has anyone ever wondered about the meaning of the word "son" in Jesus' appellation as "son of god"? After all, to create a son a man has to boink a woman, or vice versa, depending on one's technique. Now if Christians agree about one thing it is that with Mary no boinking was involved. At best the holy ghost overshadowed her, whatever that may mean--probably not boinking, though. So is there any real meaning in the term "son of god" as applied to Jesus, or is it just one of these things to which one is supposed to reverently nod the head, mumbling "well yes, of course," thus giving an empty concept a semblance of meaning through the process of idle reverence?

Can you make up your mind?Is it God, or gods?

Later, the "sons of God" a.k.a angels fornicated with the children of Adam to create the race of giants, the Nephilim.
And you'll have fries with that.
An offering that is certainly abstruse, thinking that appears to be obtuse, and definitely irrelevant.

No, I really like "clearly" almost as much as you do. Calling it a "great" word is a minor exaggeration, but I am sure you are being genuine and sincere.

I think this is the best explanation so far. Simple but explains the whole bible.

Yes, simple. So simple like the explanation that Goddidit. It explains everything, but is the view of the ignorant and the uneducated.

In the ANE, a king was viewed as the son of a god:

Quote:
Psalm 2:6-7:
6 {Yahweh speaking:} "I have set my king on Zion, my holy hill." 7 I will tell of the decree of Yahweh: He said to me, "You are my son; today I have begotten you.

2 Samuel 7:13-14:
13 He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 I will be a father to him, and he shall be a son to me.

Psalm 89:26-27:
26 He shall cry to me, 'You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation!' 27 I will make him the firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.

Does anyone ever wonder why Bible and theists are saying that Jesus was God's only son.
For example, in John 3:16 Jesus says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son.

Doesn't it strike you odd that god can only have one son?
One only? Why?
I thought that if you're almighty god, that you can do whatever you want and have as many children as you want.
Hell, you could even send one son every month or even a week to pay for our sins if you want to.

Also, did you notice that god and Jesus have this obsession with us humans loving them. They remind us of that whenever they find chance, that we must love them.
Looks like jesus didn't get lot of loving and hugging as a kid. To me those are the words of spoiled brat and not a creator of the universe.
Genesis 6

1And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

Job 1

6Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. 7And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

If Satan is so smart, why didn't he get a motorcycle?

Job 1 actually.

Not really. Anything follows from a contradiction. Since the Bible is full of contradictions, anyone basing his beliefs on the Bible is liable to reach any conclusion at all.
