Default Gnostic Gospels/Da vinci's code

I have done some research, but I am still unsure of why these are not more "mainstream".

Did Jesus have a wife?
...
Or has mainstream secular and religious scholars decided not to deal with these 'new' gospels?

I’d be willing to bet that if there were a historical preacher behind the Jesus stories that yes he had a wife and probably children as well, he was in his thirties and he was Jewish. Even the Bible says that before he started his ministry he was an ordinary man, a carpenter to be precise. If he were unmarried he’d have been considered a freak, I’m not sure what the punishment was for being unmarried and over 20, at worst stoning, at best being banished. The 5 responsibilities of a Jewish father to his male son included teaching him a craft, finding him a wife, so his old man would have been in trouble as well if Jesus was unmarried after 20.
