Did Old Testament Jews believe that the Messiah would be genetic descendant of David?
If Old Testament Jews believed that the Messiah would be a genetic descendant of David, if Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, he could not possibly have been a genetic descendant of David, right?
May I ask why God chose Jews to be his chosen people? Edit: Will a moderator please put the word "a" before the word "genetic" in the title? |

I don't know to much Biblical history, but I think that the Jews were from an unbroken line of 'just' people. While you have people like Esau, Ishmael and the like that branch off from the main line because of their sins (i.e being too hungry for soup or being the son of your fathers servant), the Jews were all descended from the 'good' heirs, such as Isaac.
No idea on the Jesus question though. Doubt that the virgin story was even intended by the authors... |

For the most part, Christianity misinterprets "anointed one" in the Hebrew cannon as talking about some special type of person, when in fact its almost always simply talking about a normal king. God YHWH "chose" the Jews because the Jews invented invented said god, just like Ra "chose" the Egyptians and Zeus "chose" the Greeks.... |
