Scriptures written over doors
If I remember correctly, didn't Moses command the Jews that when they settled the Promised Land they were to write the Laws he gave them (or a few) along the tops of their doors or facings of the jambs? If this is correct, has archeology discovered any remains of homes with inscriptions of laws written on the remains of the walls immediately around or above where the doors went?

The oldest precedent I am aware of for this sort of stuff
are the written inscriptions (that were mainly symbols) over the entrance portals of a reasonable number of the larger megalithic structures scattered over western europe and the british isles. EG: Spirals at New Grange, in Ireland. AFAIK, the megalithic structures went up during the time period 4500 - 3200 BCE. The building principles employed in the megalithic structures, were used again in the construction of the Egyptian pyramids (3000 - 2400 BCE). According to some authors (Lomax and Knight; "Uriel's Machine") these same building codes (ie: the structures were partly 'horizon declinometers') were utilised in Solomon's temple. Pete Brown |
