Greetings.
I have heard of this sect and they are primarily limited to India, Pakistan and the United States. The Ahmadiyyans were the first Muslims to send missionaries to the United States at the beginning of the 20th century and if I remember correctly believe Jesus preached in India before dying. As you have noted they believe their founder to be a prophet. I don't know of any detailed refutations of their doctrines but I suggest contacting the folks at Islamicity Discussion Board for help with this. you might also try the folks at Turn To Islam. |

From what I have heard, the founder of the Ahmadiyyas was even more into self-indulgence than the prophet Muhammad. Their leader is the Aga Khan (a prince) and they are considered heretics in (e.g.) Pakistan. Pakistan's only Nobel prize winner (I think the only one) in Physics went to an Ahmadiyya - Abdus Salam.

There is also an Ahmadi community in the neighborhood of Kababir in Haifa, Israel. I used to be able to hear their muazzin on summer nights.

Thank you for replies
![]() Yes, he is from Pakistan where Ahmadiyya aren't even considered muslims in Pakistan. They are even persecuted in some areas. However my friend (like any indoctrinated person) believes his religion to be inerrant and he claims to examine it critically. That coinsists of him debating with his other muslim friends about their beliefs and them not being able to answer his questions. He is conviced that this religion is true because the prophecies predicted by his latest prophet all came true. Apparently he predicted that some battle of 300 people with sticks vs. 3000 enemies with swords would be won by the ragtag army. He predicted this 2 days before and it came true. It says so in historical books or so he says. My qualm with this is if it is indeed true that the 300 people won this battle... was this prophecy written after the fact? Doesn't make it much of a prophecy does it? |

Thank you countjulian. That's pretty much why I asked for references. I read the wiki article and the only references I saw were anti-Ahmadiyya websites (for counter arguments on this specific religion).
