Am surprised to read that the sinai peninsula has no mountain.could this be true.and if true how could the isralites place such a momentous event of their tradition on a non-existent physical feature?
has anybody out their toured mount sinai?

There is a mountain called Jebel Musa / Mount Sinai in the southern Sinai. But it is not the tallest peak in the Sinai. Then again Mount Olympus is not huge either.
Quote:
At 2,285 metres high, Mount Sinai is minor mountain next to Mount St. Catherine,[1], at 2,637 metres high the highest in the Sinai peninsula. It is surrounded on all sides by higher peaks of the mountain range.

ETA: as a massif, Mount Olympus is apparently one of the tallest mountains in Europe, considering that it starts from sea level.
Quote:
Since its base is located at sea level, it is one of the highest mountains in Europe, in real absolute altitude from base to top.

When I was there I saw little else but mountains.

All the best,
