Default Why Jesus at 12 story

I am curious why Luke added the story about Jesus staying in the temple when he was 12? I don't think any of the writers had it. Also how do Christians understand the argument that Jesus's parents said we don't understand what he was doing. After giving a virgin birth and for Joseph supposedly being visited by an angel, it shouldn't be a surprise.

It has been suggested that one of the author's sources was Josephus and we find that author tell a similar story about himself.

Luke and Josephus (includes a link to Carrier's article)

If your a cynical bastard like me, you might see that it was another tale stolen from the writings of Flavius Josephus.

Quote:
2. Now, my father Matthias was not only eminent on account of is nobility, but had a higher commendation on account of his righteousness, and was in great reputation in Jerusalem, the greatest city we have. I was myself brought up with my brother, whose name was Matthias, for he was my own brother, by both father and mother; and I made mighty proficiency in the improvements of my learning, and appeared to have both a great memory and understanding. Moreover, when I was a child, and about fourteen years of age, I was commended by all for the love I had to learning; on which account the high priests and principal men of the city came then frequently to me together, in order to know my opinion about the accurate understanding of points of the law.

I wonder who conveys the information that Luke used Josephus best? Minimalist or Amaleq13?

Tis a pity. Mods are not the be all and end all. However, you're right in yielding this time. You and I aren't so different. Except I'm drunk...that changes things.

This just in from NASA. A statistical analysis of use of the word "twelve" in "Luke" has been determined to be reMarkable.

It's a question of raw, naked, power. BTW, I was just in Greece last October. Excellent wines ( 4,000 years of experience will do that ) and Mythos was a pretty good beer. Enjoy your hangover.

The fun is in the journey. I grant you that once you arrive the pleasure wears off.
