Candida Moss on myth of Christian persecution
Very interesting announcement of lecture by Candida Moss on myth of Christian persecution in early centuries:
http://www.nationalcathedral.org/eve...20130321.shtml I wonder what she says about the historicity of Tacitus' Ann. 15.44 and other non-Christian texts. Haven't read her stuff yet. |

There's a long thread here:
Christian Persecution - you're such a martyr. She doesn't focus on the first century. |

I just started reading the book. She mentions Tacitus twice - once in relation to another work and is generally dismissive of his reference.

Just started reading her book as well. Very interesting. Her take is very minimalist on the reporting of martyrs. But she uses Christian sources and actual research to help back up her dismissal of the majority of martyr claims.
