Yes, please use a link instead of copying it.
Your reference is to "The Gospel According to Acharya S: The Origins of Good and Evil." I can tell you that Acharya S does not have a good reputation for scholarly fact checking or nuanced observations. You should not quote any of her linguistic claims in that article. But whether it is "good" is up to you. Some people like her style. |

Well, why not find out and document what you find? Look up Horus in some reliable book on Egyptian mythology. (NB: always ask to see the ancient sources that allegedly state anything -- you will be amazed, if you do, how often imagination gets palmed off as fact when people have some political or religious interest in doing so).

What about them?
If you see all religion as reflecting some Jungian archetypes, you can see a connection. The story of Horus might have influenced some aspects of Christianity. But Satan is derived from the Hebrew character Shaitan, or the adversary, and the whole idea of good vs evil is usually connected to Persian influences on the Jews, not necessarily Egyptian political divisions. |

Quick Opinion of Archarya S.
Hi Toto,
Yes, she is not a model for academic writing. She draws conclusions too quickly based on desire more than evidence. However, this is a fault that we all often have. Many attacks against her exaggerate this fact with some obvious sexism thrown in. Many academics also often exhibit carelessness with facts and conclusions, but they write in a much more long-winded and dull style, and only make teeny-tiny points about relatively inconsequential issues, so nobody notices or cares. Her positive quality is that she is inquisitive and enthusiastic about things ancient, and she delights in discovery. She has an open and warm romantic style of writing. I agree that one should check her facts before quoting them. Warmly, Philosopher Jay Quote:
