Matthew 6 1"Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. That says that your own religion is calling you a hypocrit. :rolling: |

such a wonderful smokescreen to hide the fact that atheists do very very little volunteer charitable work in the tampa bay metro area. I live here i know.

I wonder if mata is Catholic. Does the existence of a "St. Mary's Hospital" provide evidence/proof that Catholicism is true and that Mary was a saint?

I'm surprised no one has brought up the fact that there aren't many "Atheist" organizations because people give to secular causes instead. We don't need a cause based on our common lack of belief. We all have different views and morals and give to charities accordingly. We don't need a religion to tell us how or why we should be giving to other people. We do it anyway, and without the church or god or jesus or santa.
Christians have hospitals -so what? The KKK sponsors highways! Where's the anti-KKK? Why aren't they sponsoring highways?! See! You should join the KKK! |

I have always thought that charity is simply a palliative to injustice. We have lived during 15 to 18 centuries in Christian States (christian kings or presidents), and still, charity is a necessity ? Ha ha !
Where is Jesus Christ in this story ? Charitable people choose the "good" poor people, and humiliate them with their measured gifts. Charity is a good thing for charitable people. Most of the poor people would prefer having a good job, and why not, from a christian employer. However, there will always be beggars. |
