That is in fact the origin of the Wandering Jew legend. The poor man is not allowed to die because Jesus has not yet come back.

Except that, the "first" time Jesus came, his death supposedly "paid the price" for death and Paul makes that point perfectly clear; they will not die--physically. Their bodies are to be changed while they are still alive. Or so his claim.
