And as you said, Eusebius reconstructed the past, this is also my conclusion.

But what if Eusebius was sponsored to invent the history of Jesus? What evidence is there of Jesus or NT or christianity which is independent of and earlier than Eusebius writing merrily in his tax-exempt status in the fourth century under Constantine? I have looked for unambiguous citations to such in both the literature and in the monumental evidence such as epigraphy and the papyri but have not found anything which is entirely unambiguously "Jesus or NT or christian" before the 4th century.

Best wishes,

So far, I do not think the Church or Eusebius invented Jesus, but Luke and Paul appear to be inventions of the Church or Eusebius.

My hypothesis is that the Church or Eusebius fabricated all the information now available about Paul and Luke, that is, the Church or Eusebius falsely claimed Paul wrote letters to seven Churches and that Paul lived before the days of Nero and had a companion named Luke. Also, the Church or Eusebius falsely claimed that Marcion of Pontus knew of the writings of Paul and Luke.

Philo of Alexandria and Flavius Josephus cannot account for any Jesus Movement in the first century. These writers have not identified any MADMEN who persuaded the Jews to worship a blasphemer, after he supposedly ROSE from the dead and was called the Son of the God of the Jews while the Jewish temple was still intact.

Philo and Josephus cannot account for Paul or Luke.

They wrote about the Essenes, the Theraputae, Sadducees, Pharisees, John the Baptist, chief priests, the sanhedrin, Pilate, but they both forgot to mention the JESUS PEOPLE.

I don't think there were any Jesus people in the 1st century, and that includes Luke and Paul.

Now, I don't know which century the Church or Eusebius invented Luke and Paul, but somehow I am beginning to think it was the 4th century, since it was at that time that the Church and Eusebius , with the help Constantine, could say without fear of contradiction, "only we know the truth".

The Boss was cleverer than that. He actually coerced people to sign an oath of alliegence to his initiatives against the advice of Arius of Alexandria. It was good for future business. He had spent all of his early life as a hostage in the courts of Diocletian. He was now holding the empire hostage to his demands. Here was a man of documents.

Here is the document that the rich indigenous civilians and landholders of the greek speaking eastern Roman empire were coerced to sign under military duress during the second military supremacy council, held at Nicaea and following the preliminary screening of the civilians at Antioch 324 CE. We are told these people were 318 christian bishops but I insist that this is part of the fraudulent misrepresentation of the history written by the military supremacist victors. They were 318 pagans with nowhere to go since they were surrounded by Constantine's military machine.

Book 10, Part 6 - Creed of Nicaea

10.6. Creed of Nicaea

“We believe in one God, the Father almighty,
maker of all things visible and invisible,
and in one Lord Jesus Christ,
Son of God born as only-begotten of the Father,
that is of the Father’s substance,
God from God,
light from light,
true God from true God,
born not made,
homoousios with the Father,
that is of the same substance as the Father,
through whom all things were made,
those in heaven and those on earth.

Who for the sake of us human beings
and our salvation came down and was incarnate,
and becoming a human being suffered
and rose on the third day,
and ascended to heaven,
from where he is to come to judge
the living and the dead.

And in the Holy Spirit.

But those who say

that there was a time when he was not,
and before he was born he was not,
and that he was made out of nothing existing
or who say that God’s Son is from another subsistence or substance
or is subject to alteration or change,

the catholic and apostolic church anathematizes.

It is my considered opinion that the catholic and christian church, Jesus and all christendom did not exist before this oath was signed under duress.

That in fact there was a time when Jesus was not.
It was before the time of Constantine.

That before he was born he was not.
Jesus had no historical existence before Constantine.

That he was made out of nothing existing.
Jesus was a character in a fiction story.

that God’s Son is from another subsistence or substance.
Jesus and the 12 Apostles have a literary and not an historical existence,
prior to the era of Constantine in which they were lavishly published.

Jesus (and the NT) is subject to alteration or change.
That the Eusebian story was being rewritten before and after Nicaea.

Best wishes,

Pete

Andrew,

Luke 23:34 may be in most mss witnesses, but not some of the oldest. FWIW, that passage has the support of S* A C Old Latin vg syr. cur and pesh, Mcion Iren Or Aug, but is omitted by Codex Vaticanus, Codex Bezae and p75.

Besides, Stephen utters his prayer asking God to forgive his attackers as he is being stoned, as is James when he utters his prayer. I will grant that the wording is not identical.

Actually James' prayer according to Hegesippus is closer to that of Jesus in most manuscripts of Luke 23:34 than it is to Stephen's in Acts.

They are in both RTF and PDF format. Please forgive my late-night spelling errors in the introduction. However, if you were ever wondering what makes me tick ... Due to display differences between Word 97 under Win 95, the platforms current when these files were first created, and modern 32 bit word processors, the files with the two column tables appear to be mismatched by a line in some cases, but you will be able to relate the "interpolations" in the right hand column to the main text in the left hand column without any difficulty.
The PDF files are now hosted on my site, as well. Many, but not all, of the line errors have been corrected.

Ben.
