And then, what about if you have the right to the corpse of a sibling or parent, when there are incest laws? Does incest apply to dead people? OTOH, I suppose that most people would, like myself, find it rather distasteful. David B ( idly wonders if there has ever been a test case, anywhere) |

It seems to me that the moral aspect enters into it relative to the harm that could be caused to the corpse's loved ones (property owners), rather than from the perspective of the dead person. I'm sure that anyone that believes in life after death would see it differently, though.

Okay, so let's see if I understand the traditional rules. No ejaculating into colons, the dead, the underage, or sheep. Except that it's okay to ejaculate into the colons of dead underage sheep. Do I have that right?

How else do you think that David Eisenhower could have been conceived?

Pretty much agree--it's a property offense against the person's estate, to which their body belongs. I'd put it on the level of cremating someone who had in life expressed a desire to be buried, or harvesting someone's organs or donating their body to science when they had not expressed a desire for either to be done with their remains, or something like that. Unethical, but not seriously so. (This is all presuming that, in the absence of any specific expressions of approbation of such usage, the person would not have wished his corpse to be used in such a fashion, a reasonable presumption I think.) |

Do any of the atheists here have strong feelings about how you want your remains handled and disposed of? I really couldn't care less about what someone does with my body once I'm dead, but I do want to be cremated rather than take up a plot of useful ground just for a grave.
Oddly enough though I do want my ashes sprinkled around my garden when I die. Hopefully that isn't because of some remnant of afterlife delusions but more because I think that being compost is a worthy use of a pile of otherwise useless ashes. |
