This may be important.
Deuteronomy 12 feels wrong in pre exilic terms and my thought was that it might be a late addition. This deals with miscellaneous things, that one would expect more attention to be paid such as human sacrifice, or what to do if one is too far from the temple, etc. These are basic technical issues that one would expect to be addressed in the "design phase" of centralization. The problem is that 12 is considered integrated with the subsequent verses. A post exilic origin solves a lot of problem. |
