Try to re-interpret THAT, biatch! (forgive the profanity). The Second Coming was meant for THEIR time. And guess what? He didn't come.
You are aware that the Bible contains many more verses that detail the events that are to take place preceding the Second Coming?

Please educate us as to what year those events recorded in Matthew 24:29, Mark 13:24-25, Luke 21:25 Joel 3:11-17, Micah 4:1-8 and Zephaniah 3:8-20 took place, because seems that all the historians missed noticing, or just forgot to record that these things had happened.
Because to the best of our knowledge there is no record nor any evidence that these events have yet occurred. And if they have not yet occurred, then the predicted time of The Second Coming remains still in the future.

What difference does this make? If I say that, before I die, the moon will explode, and it doesn't explode, then I was wrong.

According to the Bible, Jesus claimed that some people standing there would see the Second Coming. If other things were supposed to have happened before that, and they didn't happen, then all it means is that Jesus was wrong.

There certainly be an end of the earth, but that doesn't mean that there will be a Second Coming. It ain't gonna happen, no matter what predictions haven't yet been fulfilled.

The difference is that the claim being made in the OP
Quote:
The Second Coming was meant for THEIR time.
is invalidated by the evidence of the text, in which the prophecy is specific that The Second Coming would follow the darkening of the sun and the moon, and the stars falling from heaven, in as much as these events have not yet transpired, the truth of the remainder of the prophecy ("and then shall...") has yet to be tested.
That some would not taste death does not limit the time to that generation, not tasting death, they remain alive through all succeeding generations until the generation that actually sees the completion of all the things predicted.

Of course he did come and he has been coming ever since but only to those he called his to be his own.

It just means that the second coming is not a universal event but a personal event that began at that time, since obviously the second coming follows the first.

Rev 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him.

Matthew 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven: and then shall ALL the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. also Mark 13:26. Luke 21:27

These verses (and others) indicate that even those who do not believe in Him, and who would much rather NOT see Him, WILL be seeing Him, and wail.

Yes I know, but you may be presenting there verses the wrong way. The fact is that many have seen the son of man and for them there is no third coming but just peace on earth.

Bless you Chili, the verses seem to read quite clearly that not just "many" but that every eye shall see Him including the eyes of ALL of His enemies, and them that pierced Him.
Just dosen't seem much substance to an invisable, unrecognized, and unacknowledged King over all the earth, that only appears to "insiders".

ad it didn't happen; therefore jesus lied.

your right.
funny thing though; there's this other verse that does.
"Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things shall be fulfilled." - Matthew 24:34

The generation died; it didn't happen = false prophecy.

Thank you Shezbazzar and bless you too.

The (these) letters were written to "the Churches" and that indeed includes "all believers and unbelievers" of those churches but of those churches only. This would be to say that in the end times of this world as it pertains to each members of these churches the son of man will be known because this world is their illusion that keeps the son of man from them.

And yes, he is recognized and acknowledged as King over all the earth wherefore there is only one religion under the sun with saints in heaven. They are not insiders except that the rest are outsiders: "lost brethren" is what we call them.

how do you know they're all dead? i saw a movie once set in the year 2000 where Dracula was Judas!
He's talking about a future generation that he just didn't mention!
he couldn't have meant that; otherwise it would have happened!

^ some of the "counters" i have seen when using such passages. :P
Here's another you can add to your list that someone told me just a couple of days ago. The poster claimed he DID come back! Don't forget, he reappeared to his disciples after the crucifixion.

I know, I just sat there in disbelief for a few minutes myself.
That second coming must have been a big disappointment to Mother Earth, probably why she hasn't invited him down again for another "date".
