Default Glen Beck "Phoenecian Block"

Glen Beck is right now giving a speech. He says that a block discovered in America has ancient Phoenecian/Hebrew writings on it...something to do with indians. Is this a fraud?

Glenn Beck does not have a good record on historical research.

I think he is referring to the Las Lunas inscription, which can be seen here.

James Tabor seems to think that it could be authentic. An Ancient Hebrew Inscription in New Mexico: Fact or Fraud?

But this seems a better source: Weird New Mexico

Quote:
Pfeiffer, an expert in Semitic languages, concluded that the mysterious inscription was written in a form of Paleo-Hebrew and paraphrased the Ten Commandments.

“I am Yahweh thy God who brought thee out of the land,” Pfeiffer’s translation began. “There shall not be unto them other gods before Me.”

Pfeiffer’s Paleo-Hebrew translation has been accepted as generally accurate by a wide range of people — from Todd Eaton, a self-taught petroglyph enthusiast, who said the Paleo-Hebrew inscription was carved by ancient Samaritans who had been shipwrecked off the coast of Texas and then wandered up the Rio Grande and Rio Puerco Rivers; to David Allen Deal, author of Discovery of Lost America, who said he believes the Paleo-Hebrew inscription was carved circa 107 B.C. by Hebraic mound builders that had previously settled around Ohio; to historian Ferenc Szasz, who argued convincingly in Great Mysteries of the West, and elsewhere, that the carving dates to 1776, when the legendary Dominguez-Escalante Expedition passed nearby; to university archeologists who believe that yeah, it’s written in Paleo-Hebrew, but it’s still a hoax.

“There is absolutely no firm evidence that the glyph was known before the 1930s,” John C. Winter wrote, and he suggested that two nearby inscriptions reading “Hobe Eva 3-19-30 1930,” were carved by the same UNM students who he believed carved the inscription on the Mystery Stone — citing as evidence the remembrances of various former UNM professors, the availability of Semitic language Bibles and textbooks from UNM’s Zimmerman Library, and the relatively new-looking appearance of the inscription.

Beck? The loony liar? No informed person takes him seriously.
Beck has the same legitimacy as those people that claim they have been probed by martians.

Thanks, but what he showed was a single line written on black stone...it look like a black block.

Are you familiar with that?

Beck is a Mormon convert. He believes a lot of loony stuff. The "Phoenecian Block" might be the most loony/looniest.

Its called Mormonism. They believe that ancient the Tribe of Judah came to America around 600 B.C.E.

They also claim that dark skin is a curse.

THE BOOK OF ALMA 3:6 And the skins of the Lamanites [Native Americans] were dark, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which was a acurse upon them because of their transgression and their rebellion against their brethren, who consisted of Nephi, Jacob, and Joseph, and Sam, who were just and holy men.

I wouldn't put too much faith in Beck or Mormon history.

Hmmm I didnt know Beck was a former Mormon. I was debating some Black Hebrews (a black supremicist group who believes that African Americans, and Indians are the true Jews) that also brought up something about Hebrew inscriptions found supporting their theory that Indians are Hebrews.

CNN promotes UFOism and Fox bizaar human migrations....nice.

Former Mormon? First time I've heard of that. When did he deconvert?

I used to listen to Beck on local radio in a devil's advocate kind of way, but about 10 years ago I couldn't stand it anymore. I haven't even tuned into that station since.

Can you imagine if Mormonism is true and Beck becomes a God with his own planet and creates his own Bible and rules! Imagine being the poor schmuck born on that planet!!:vomit:
