Default Marzeah Papyrus a forgery?

Expert questions artifacts' credentials

Quote:
. . . the Marzeah Papyrus is . . . part of the "Ink and Blood: Dead Sea Scrolls to the English Bible" exhibit on display at the Knoxville Convention and Exhibition Center. The artifacts have been gathered from private collections and museums from around the world.

"I think, based on the script, that this is a forgery as well," Rollston said. "There are various aberrations in the script, various anomalies."

. . .

The Marzeah Papyrus is reputed to be the oldest known Hebrew manuscript in existence. According to the exhibit's Web site, it dates to the 7th century B.C. and contains the oldest use of the word "Elohim," a name for God.

Noah, a physician, said questions about the papyrus' authenticity arose in the aftermath of what happened with the James Ossuary.

Thanks for the links Toto. I also found Ed Cook's weblogged post on this back in January.

Living so close to the exihibit I'm planning on actually going and seeing it myself. When I return I'll have some pics (hopefully) and information on what I see there.

best,
