I recently heard that there is some new evidence indicating that Mary Magdalene was a disciple and not a prostitute. Any comment on this?
Peter and Paul are our first pope and the Vatican rests on his shoulders (that is why they buried him upside down).

She's our temple tramp but not a prostitute as might think of them.
We have Churches named after Magdalene and de Madleine in Paris as a good example this.

Nothing early enough to be reliable. All we have are legends.

Nothing contemporary, nor anything close enough. Again, just legends.

It's not really evidence, and it is not so new. Some apocryphal gospels found in the Nag Hammadi library in 1945 portray her as Jesus' favorite disciple.

Nothing in either the canonical or the apocryphal literature says she was a prostitute. That story didn't start circulating until many centuries later.
