Early Latin Writings in the works
Chris Weimer and I are working hard to bring Early Latin Writings to life.
Probably in early December, we will have a functional site up. I am currently working on modifying Drupal to suit our needs. I will also be taking the system that we make for ELW and applying it back to the websites for ECW and EJW (Early Christian Writings and Early Jewish Writings). The new system will make it easier for us to modify content (it's a PITA now), so you will see more frequent updates. Other functionality will include: * A tabs interface on every writer page, so you can tab over to the "Detailed Information", "Text", "Translation", "Quotes", and "Links" page for each author/writing. * A default view of the writer/writing will show a teaser of the detailed information, some of the quotes from it, and often a picture (the tabs give you the meat). * SEARCH WILL WORK! And it will search full text of documents too. * Keyword clouds will be used, so every writer/writing can be tagged with keywords, and those keywords will be displayed with the more common keywords in large bold type. * The right panel will be used to let you browse the 6 previous and 6 next documents/authors chronologically. The current plan is to have NO user-contributed content on the ELW page and ECW/EJW pages, but Chris and I are on the fence about that. If we have any user contributed content (comments, link suggestions, etc.)--how should that be handled? Can you think of what else can be done to improve ELW over the design of ECW/EJW? Thanks in advance for your interest! regards, Peter Kirby PS-- I am fishing for the services of a graphic designer to make a "theme" for the Early Writings family of sites. (Yes it's paid--and, sorry that I'm breaking the site rules .) If you want to take the job, email or PM me with your portfolio. |
