Default A Historical Foundation ... who loses ...

(Warning pure speculation ) Just my curiousity... due to the nature of many recent threads ...
If solid non-biblical evidence of a historical Jesus is discovered ... such as the bone - box of his brother James ... which fills in details of his earthly life ... which group loses the most ... example(s)

if we have a firmer date of his birth date one or more of the gospels will be subject to attacks on it's crediability ...

If we have evidence that Joseph was the natural father of one or more of Jesus' siblings certain traditions would have to be discarded (in unamed denominations ) ...

Basically I am saying that the more historical "facts" are considered the less room faith has to operate in ... the less ground fundalmentalist (of all types) have to stand on ... while there are countless questions that will go unanswered and there are people who will hold unto their beliefs regardles ( not only in spite of but many consider it a badge of honor to believe in face of contrary facts) ... when the "real world " factors are considered ... The influence of cultral and political forces ... the human conflicts ... the problem is getting fundalmentalist to even consider the validity of these forces ...

Other than something like Pilate's personal writtings stating ... after scourging we transported the prisioner Jesus to work as a slave for Joseph of Arimathea in a remote province, which put an end to the unrest at the time of passover ... Which of course would be dismissed out of hand as either a man-made forgery or the work of the devil..

What "Histotical Facts" do you think would most threaten some segment of Orthodox Christianity

Remember this is pure speculation ...

For me, proving he was either not cruficied or a historical person would do it. I do not interpret the ressurrection as a fleshly one. Nor almost anything else as necessary to the Christian faith aside from those two.
