Trying to keep PV from derailing every thread seems to be an exercise in futility. If you want to hear him talk about jeebus, then YOU need to go to the E/C section! Stick around here to hear his views on evolution. :rolling:

haha...brilliant! an obvious tactic that i can't believe i overlooked! go to a completely unrelated thread and try to get the answer there. but, you know, i'm really a pretty lazy person, and summer just adds to it. i'm with other people who simply ask him to post it here.

Ok...well, then I hope you for one have eaten off gold rimmed plates your whole life. Oh, and I trust you've eaten completely kosher too. I'm sure if everyone just obeyed Leviticus, the world would be a much nicer place. I don't think following a bunch of pointless, outdated social rules is gonna help anyone change their mind.

What I had in mind was commentary by contemporary observers, not necessarily interested parties. We have a number of these - Roman historians like Tacitus, Jews like Josephus - who wrote accounts of events of their time that have survived. It would have been possible for Jesus' ministry to have attracted the attention of someone outside the Jesus movement, who might have written something that said "there was this man named Jesus, who did thus and so, and built up a following among the Jews of Galilee, who believed this about him." That doesn't seem to have happened, or at least if it did the writings didn't survive. But it would have been interesting.

I know what the problem is here.

You guys are reading the thread title wrong.

Look carefully. It doesn't say "Extrabiblical Evidence For Jesus". It says "Extra Biblical Evidence For Jesus".

That is why PV isn't posting any evidence from outside the Bible. The thread is about extra evidence from inside the Bible.

It's very unfair of you all to derail this thread with demands for evidence from outside the Bible. Jesus is mentioned in the Bible and that should be all the evidence you need.

I think the list has been give a number of times. There are a number of extrabibilical references to Jesus/Christ, from nonChristian sources, starting somewhat after his death.

In this he is no different than most historical figures of the time, as few attracted contemporary notice and there were few outlets for memorializing contemporary figures in writing, since there weren't any newspapers or magazine.

Well, on the Book of Mormon, I'll concede your point.

I don't think the religious writings of Hinduism are "hoaxes." They're religious texts.

Again, I don't think the Koran is a hoax. It's a religious text.
