Default Bart Ehrman on The Da Vinci Code

From email:

I assume that these are teasers meant to get you to buy the lectures that this group ( www.teach12.com ) sells by Ehrman.

Quote:
. . . two free, 30-minute lectures on "Fact and Fiction in The DaVinci Code" from biblical expert Professor Bart D. Ehrman of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. One of our most popular professors, Professor Ehrman (Ph.D., Princeton Theological Seminary) is a 15-year teaching veteran at UNC and winner of several teaching awards. These lectures are a free gift to you. You may access these free lectures online any time between now and Labor Day, September 6, 2004.

The DaVinci Code has remained on The New York Times bestseller list now for more than 50 weeks. Even though it is a work of fiction, it contains an ostensibly historical background involving early Christianity. But what is fact and what is fiction? Join Professor Ehrman to discuss the truth behind such topics as the formation of the Christian Bible, Jesus' relationship with Mary Magdalene, and the role of the emperor Constantine in shaping the religion of the historical Jesus.

I was just gonna post my email from teaching company. Haven't listened yet, but I have really enjoyed Ehrmans courses(on tape). He is worth buying, I think I have three of his alone. The teaching company rocks(in a totally nerdy sort of way)

Great couple of lectures by Ehrman. I have to say I'm a little dismayed that such a reputable scholar was badgered by people into addressing the claims of Dan Brown's book. It's in the fiction section for a reason folks! I guess they're just to lazy to do any research for themselves. A quick search on the web would debunk just about everything in the Da Vinci Code.
