I am wondering whether Ephrem is overemphasizing the 'strangeness' of the Marcionite Christ. We are aware that early Jewish and pagan sources emphasize or intimate that the Christ was a mamzer, bastard, of illegitimate birth etc. Interestingly the Peshitta seems to have chosen nukraya to translate νόθοι in Hebrews 12:8:
But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. (KJV) εἰ δέ χωρίς εἰμί παιδεία ὅς μέτοχος γίνομαι πᾶς ἄρα νόθος καί οὐ υἱός εἰμί But if you are without discipline, that discipline by which every man is trained, then you are strangers and not men. I don't know where this is leading but I wonder whether scholars have been too eager to emphasize the 'strangeness' in the Marcionite figure merely because of Ephrem's hostile witness. |

It could be the influence of Arius.

I will try to get your book on Kindle. I can not follow my family as far as you have to Jacob Frank.
I all ways loved the circus and the clowns. |

I can send you a free copy. I don't get paid either way. I obviously can't help with the Kindle format
