I'd say the contradictions are fairly important, how can we need to know things that prohibit each other from both being true? Especially when they are as farfetched as the things contained in these two hefty tomes. My understanding is most of the things we need to know, like treating each other kindly, not killing, stealing etc predate both of these books. My opinion is that the other parts christians (or muslims) would have me believe I need to know are the myths and fairytales of bronze age people. |

That's not really fair. I'm sure he said that to be perfect we would need those things, not that we need them to survive (therefore that as evolution tries to make us perfect, we would need them for evolution to be true).
