Question

Gen 3:22: Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever.

So what if they had eaten first from the tree of life, then from the tree of knowledge? Or been faster and eaten from the tree of life before god had the opportunity to throw them out? You can almost feel god thinking "Oops, that was close"!

BTW, have you noticed that the only thing worth mentioning of their newly acquired knowledge is being naked? You should think they must recognize that they have sinned and will be punished and all that, so they might get very upset. But the only problem they have is to find some clothing! And god is not waiting behind the next bush, jumping out immediately after the deed - no, it is not until some time later when he takes a walk, obviously talking to himself, when he finds out (or at least takes action). And they hide because they are naked, ignoring the fact that they have already made themselves aprons. Curiouser and curiouser...

Cool

Here's all you need (and about ten thousand others you don't): Biblical Errancy Website

(edited for addendum - Koy)

Oh, and about the Adam and Eve crap above. To debate anything regarding their existence is just astounding. How old are you people that you believe Genesis is a work of non-fiction and why haven't you been electro-shocked into village idiot status by now?

So for all those mentally damaged cult members who believe Adam and Eve actually existed, here's the best contradiction of them all: a perfect being creating something "in his image" that is less than perfect (or, even more moronic, a perfect being creating something "in his image" with the "capacity" to be less than perfect, for all you rationalists out there).

Load up your "free will" misinterpretations and fire away, ignorati, but there simply is no greater illustration (beyond common f*ing sense) that your Bible is a pack of ill-conceived childhood myths than the notion of an omniscient, perfect Creator using himself as a template to create beings who immediately cave at the very first "temptation," and then punishes them and all of the rest of his creation through them, for his own design flaw, not once (original sin), not twice (the flood), but thrice (Armageddon).

"I am God so I will create Man with the 'capacity' to sin and then punish him and all of his progeny for sinning. For that is the kind of free time I have on my hands and sick sense of humor that makes me cough up a lung! OBEY ME! For I am nothing but pure love, you worthless bastards, and I'll prove it by destroying you all whenever I damn well please, because I am sovereign and everything I do is good, including mass murder!"

You people need decades of intense psychological care (or psychotropic intravenous drips, which)!

This isn't a contradiction per sey. The other night I was debating with a Xian when they brought up the world being round not flat. They explained that ancient jews never thought the world was flat. It was just that ancient language did not have words to describe a round Earth.

How did you manage to learn to write without learning how to read? We weren't debating the literal existance of adam and eve you flaming idiot.

No of course not. That was my response exactly. I also mentioned that there were atleast 4 other languages spoken in that region at the same time and they to would have had to have lacked this word. It just shows the desperation that apologetics is all about.

If the ancient hebrew language didn't have a word the express the concept of word, then how can the word of God be written without accerss to such simple concepts like that?

lucifer = "light-bringer"

This point isn't even worth discussing further. Obviously they understood the concept of round and had a word for it. How else would they describe the shape of an apple or some other round item. There is no way I would ever waste any more time on this, but if you want to I'm sure you won't have any problem finding an instance in the bible where something is described as round.

Actually, I missed the "eventually" aspect, the first time I wrote to you. Is there a text that says it like that?

Hi, John.

No, I was just funnin' about. I can't help but think it's an insult to one's omnipotent god to insist that he didn't say what he meant, and that's what that argument boils down to.

I just got out of OTS, and they kept me locked down, sans internet access, from start to finish. I'll be in and out for a couple of weeks (they want me defending the nation from California), then I should be back for good.

By the way, I've been enjoying the Kasmar book tremendously. Most enlightening.

Diana
