Question: If You Were A God, ... What would You Do? Change?
I have often wondered what I would do if I were a god.
Hence, I have asked the question: If I were a god, what would I do? What would I change? What would I not change? For example, if I were a god, I would do everything I could to eliminate the need of the living to kill in order to eat, and thus eliminate the need for the innocent to be someone's breakfast/lunch/dinner. The living need stuff to continue life, including energy, but if there were a way to get the living what they need without killing other living beings, then I would surely look into making appropriate changes. There would be collateral problems such as controlling populations now controlled through survival of the fittest in the continual struggle between the quick and the dead. But the effort would be made. I would also make certain that no person who was a good person, an innocent person--in the sense of not intending to not injure another person who, in turn, does not intend to injure another innocent person--would ever be denied an afterlife if he did not follow a particular religion. That would mean that I would take an active role in contacting mortals to make sure they knew beyond a doubt that I existed/gods existed. If I should demand that mortals prove themselves according to my standards then I should be responsible to prove myself to mortals, so that they would never doubt me, or my existence. And I would let mortals know what are my standards for morality/a code of behavior so they would know how to achieve positive/worthwhile afterlives. That would mean that I would thus eliminate confusing religions and establish one true religion for all mankind. Of course, there would be many more actions I would take, but the premise of wondering what I would do if I were a god is fascinating. So, I ask YOU this question: If YOU were a god, what would you do? What would you change? What would you not change? [This message has been edited by Bob K (edited March 29, 2001).] |

If I were a god, I would eliminate religion, theists, and superstition. I would let atheists alone thrive on the planet. I would then turn myself into a human and join this group. Thus, there would be no god, and atheism would rule supreme.

Were I god?
I'd remove free will from the people who would otherwise be considered evil, and make them good. Clockwork Orange, perhaps, but I would also change their desires. |

Play the new game Black and White. It has an amazing ability to bring out how you act with unlimited power. (not constrained by a society or laws)
for instance, I tried my damndest to be fair and even, not too good and not to evil. But i faded into about a 10-20% evil position. After thinking about it, thats probably about right. With no constraints, I dont have a problem with flinging a believer over a mountain once in a while... hehe serves them right for believing in a crack-pot god like me. |

I would just eliminate all of my needs and give myself eternal happiness. None of this universe-making crap!
