Hardly. The "trinity" already existed as a belief long before this point, although many denied it and took the Arian view. (which JWs consider themselves to be the "spiritual descendents of") The disagreements still endure today: Constantine did not succeed in determing what "all Christians should believe for all time." Modalism and neo-Arianism endures today, although a minority(as it was in the days of Constantine also) The "trinity" was just a statement of what many Christians had already believed.
