Why is there a Judgement Day, you know when JC comes back to judge everyone?

What happens when we die? Aren't we judged then whether we go to heaven or hell?

If so, what is the big deal about the Last Days, if the same thing happens to everyone when they die anyhow?

Is there a difference?
