Expedient Way To Discredit Bible
What is the most expedient way to discredit the Bible?
My favorites are all the contradictions on whether someone has seen God or not and lived. Those ones are my favs. -Derek |

glad to see that all the "sincere-truthseekers" and "freethinkers" out there have discovered a quick and easy way to dispense of the argument that has gone on in scholarly circles for 100's of years! Congrats!

Here's my expedient way to discredit the bible:
"Didn't happen." Of course, it isn't exactly accurate, but it is still the response to the important parts! (I'm in a silly mood tonight. Sorry.) |

One easy way:
It is written by humans isn't it ? "Revelations - a polite word for one who is suffering from delusions ?" |

it a quoted source? I would like to pen that on my emails. Of course, The Book of Revelations is good reading. You should read Jesus of the Apocalypse for an excellent interpretation. thanks, offa |

MEta =>My hobbies are collecting silver age comics and arguing with people who dont' know anything. Why don't you try reading it to find out what its about? Why not try reading some actual theology so you will know what all the fuss is about? |

I have an even more expidient way: put your fingers in your ears, close our eyes, and shout "I will not think I will not think I will think I will not look I do not care I will not listen I refuse to open my mind to anything I don't like i will not think I will not think..." until they go away. That disproves the Bible real effectvely. |

Matt: The reason its gone on for 100s of years is that Christians had and still do have a rather nasty habit of pointing swords, guns, etc at those that didn't agree with their beliefs. Or trying to cram it in view force of law.
Plus they believe in extensive brainwashing of children. (What it is...) Don't mistake longevity for validity. People can be REALLY stupid for a REALLY long period of time... Happens all the time. Meta: "I have an even more expidient way: put your fingers in your ears, close our eyes, and shout "I will not think I will not think I will think I will not look I do not care I will not listen I refuse to open my mind to anything I don't like i will not think I will not think..." until they go away..." Seems to me thats the Christian line. Who is on record to pluck out the eye of reason? Sure wasn't skeptics... But thank you for this most useful illustration of how Christians "reason". We knew it had to be something like that... Detached9: The easiest way to discredit it is to read it without chanting "I believe, I believe, I believe..." Once you get past the genocides and absurdities, you move right into mythology. Anyone with a brain still functioning should be able to figure that out. But a short way to do it is the old resurrection test. Demand they harmonize the resurrection, without leaving out any biblical details or adding any man-made assumptions. Put simply, its impossible. Or the geneologies. Jesus can't have two you know. And regardless of all the blathering an apologist will give you about Mary's assumed lineage, the bible doesn't say that. |
