Was the Bible supposed to be literal?
I am aware that this subject has been touched upon in nearly every thread every posted in this forum, but I just wanted to have a single, concise summary of the beliefs of the posters in this forum on this topic: How much of the Bible was originally intended to be taken as literal history? Genesis 1-11? The Gospel miracles? What passages do you see as being commonly (but wrongly) interpreted as either literal or figurative, while you think they are the other? Cite examples and provide contextual evidence. Thanks.

We should guess the authors' intention?
I imagine a vast majority of it was originally written as literal history. |
