If we are born of God in the mystical union between our earthly nature and the divine nature of God are we then not very much like Jesus?

If this is true would it be wise for us to tell anyone that we are Christians since Jesus himself ordered Peter & co. to tell no one? In fact, is it not true that Jesus was not recognized as Christ[ian] until after crucifixion and just prior to resurrection.
