Secrets of the Dead, The Tomb of Christ
Just watching PBS and saw a commercial for this show that will be airing next Tuesday.
From http://www.pbs.org/wnet/secrets2/about.html CASE 5: The Tomb of Christ THE SCENE: Jerusalem LEAD DETECTIVES: Archeologists Martin and Birthe Biddle For centuries, many who visited a certain spot in Jerusalem believed they stood within what was merely a symbolic representation of Jesus Christ's burial place. But what if the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a crumbling Ottoman structure, actually did house Christ's tomb? Tomb of Christ, Tuesday, July 24, from 8-9 p.m. (ET), explores this possibility using a decade of painstaking research, infra-red thermography and a rigorous archeological technique known as photogrammetry. This episode follows the work of an Oxford professor who is attempting to reconstruct Christ's final days and trace the history and various incarnations of the church of the Holy Sepulchre. Is the very rock shelf on which Christ's body was laid 2,000 years ago within the reach of modern science? Or will we always wonder? On this site: Explore 3-D models of the tomb of Christ. Use thermal imaging to explore ancient clues within the walls. |
