The Bible, young Earth and time
It seems that Christians that support the young earth theory base this belief off of Genesis where the universe was created in 6 days. They literally intepret the passages in the Bible as being 6 actual days (24 hour periods.) Here with verse 5:

Here is another curosity regarding the "days" and time in general. Verse 27: Quote:
Quote:
1) God created man - both male and female that existed slightly before Adam and Eve. That would mean that Adam and Eve were not the first humans and were simply two individuals that God had chosen to personally pay interests to. 2) The verses are "jumping ahead" a bit by describing what would become after Adam and Eve gained the knowledge of good and evil. However, the Bible clearly defines that it all happened on the 6th day (creating mankind - male and female), so again, perhaps this "day" wasn't a 24 hour period, but some other definition of time. God created and still creates the essence of man on the androgyne image of male and female. Adam and Eve were the first humans because God created man. It is the prefix -hu that reduced man to become an earhtly being after the image of the tree of knowledge (-hu is from humus). This makes and confirms that man is a heavenly creature if you allow me to place heaven opposite to earth. In Gen.1 only the essence of man was created that comes full circle in Gen.2 after Lord God 'made his round' on the seventh day, which is the day on which evening did not follow the day.
