Arrow Looking for a quote from "On the Origin of Species"

Hi,

I have a question - I am looking for a quote along the lines of "it is not the strongest nor the most intelligent who survive, but those most adaptive to change" from Charles Darwin and was wondering if you had the real quote and an index for this quote.

Thanks for your help!

Try <a href="http://hacienda.hypermart.net/Galapagos.html" target="_blank">this page</a>

Quote:
It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.
(Sorry; I've tried a couple links and can't get them to work.. help.)

{Fixed link - I hope. Pantera}

Also, while I'm finding that quote all over the place, I can't find anyone attributing it to The Origin of Species. Or to anything else, except others' quote sites. grrrr

It took me a while, but I found a couple of sites that attributed it to Origin. But it isn't in Origin, although the use of the word "adaptive" is typically Darwin.

Has both the first and sixth edition's text
been checked?
