Default Things that go bump in the night

Ghosts and specifically demons (even those of the tap dancing variety) have, until a few years ago, instilled a certain degree of fear in me. Even when I 'knew' they didnt exist, I would still hesitate upon entering a dark unknown place.

Thinking about my fears of apparitions only bring embarresment at this point in my life. I know it's all bullshit. When I was a child, this was not the case, unfortunately. Haunted houses were real, demons existed and they were only around the next, dark corner waiting for me.

My biggest fear of spirits was when I was 12. I had purchased an Ouija board. My mom and I were asking some questions of a 'spirit' we were 'communicating' with. After a few minutes, the spirit, Rob, said he was going to kill me that night. As night rolled around, I was terrified. I attempted to sneak into my little sisters room and sleep on her floor but was caught and sent back to my room where I huddled on the bed crying until after 3am when I finally fell asleep.
After almost 20 years, I still can not think of that moment and see the humor in it. The fear that my brain was able to muster was almost paralyzing. I felt helpless. Now, I feel humiliated.
I still loath my mom for doing that to me. Bitch.

I can see that these irrational fears were all a part of my religious upbringing. If god exists (which, he most certainly did), then the devil exists. If the devil exists then he most certainly has demons. If these things exist, then ghosts and monsters certainly did also. Me being a bad boy, they were most certainly going to get me for my sins.

What a mind fuck.

Please think twice about bringing your children up in a religious environment. These irrational thoughts, ideas, and fears can be detrimental to the mental health of your child.

Hi, Primordial Groove,

I think, the ability to perceive such ghosts and a religious environment while childhood are different things. To be able to perceive such ghosts or dead 'persons' is an ability, which is a great talent, and it is very normal as a human talent, not known to the public science, because people like you, do not speak much about in the public. If there are ghosts who are making fear, this can also happen, without a religious environment. I know some woman's, who have no relations to traditional religions (but pagan), and they are aware about ghosts and also bad ghosts and dead persons from the family from childhood on. Because these ghosts are not of any physical existence, but only of a spiritual existence, they cannot really hurt, but they can make fear, if the individual, which is aware about them, has no inner protection that can reject the attack to the own mind. There are some fine procedures to applicate, which results in shield from this to the mind and gave a total fear free consciousness. Ask a wise woman for help. It is only a process in the own mind, which can be fixed. There was a woman I told last month (from her astrology chart) about her talent of seeing more things than other people, and because she was cutting my hair as a professional, I thought she was not involved in these area. But she told me that she would like to work in such area, but because she has fear, because a ghost has tried to press her from taking breath, she has never tried. Last week she told me she is free from fear. She has done some procedures, which she got from a wise woman. No fear any more. It is just in the own brain, and it is a state of the own consciousness. There are many bad people in this world, and many bad ghost in the next world, not only angels. Some of them make bad jokes to sensitive people and dictate them mad stories about Jesus Christ or about some aliens in space ships. It's a crime, but the ghosts don't care. I think, there is no need for religions at all, but there is a need to distinguish the trash from the real. This is only to made by knowledge and by own experiences on the specific matter. Belief is of no meaning.
