Exclamation Noah's Flood Debunked

Quote:
...at that time Mt. Ararat was only about ten to twelve thousand feet high. Now if all the water came down in forty days and drowned all the mountains of the world, that would require the rain to come down at about eleven and a half feet per hour. John, that's not rain, that's hydraulic mining! Everything would have been swept off the surface of the continents. The continents would be absolutely denuded down to crystalline rocks. All the sedimentary rocks would have been deposited in the ocean basins. Now clearly, that's not the pattern that we see... and it would certainly imply... that does away with Noah's flood!

Magic. The mountains rose after the flood. Prior to that, the world was very flat, and there was only 1 continent. Don't know how common this answer is, but I certainly have heard it.

Maybe, but leave it here, anyway. And while we're at it, I'd like to see a Creationist debunk this little jewel:

Really, I would like to see it get taken apart! The guy's doubtless right on the money, but I don't like his attitude. I also lack the math to do it myself.

That's what I'm hearing these days, too.

Seems that today's mountains are the result of the immense pressures exerted by flood waters.... somehow kick-starting plate tectonics.

So they are having to build a 29,000+ foot Mt. Everest, along with all the other mountains and mountain ranges on the planet, in 4,400 years. Imagine those earthquakes!

(edited for clarity)

Bravo! You're right the guy is a little smug but he destroys any hope of defending the flood with sensical arguments. The best they can say is 'God is all powerful, God can do anything, God did it!' As well, God seemingly flooded the whole world yet places like China had written histories that predate the supposed flood (at least when most Xians say it happened) with no record of such an event. Not to mention the logistics of the boat...

Its called water coming from fissures in the ocean floor as well as the rain, with the ocean floor not being as deep as it is now.

In other words, baseless assumptions.

Everybody knows that aliens put all the water there and then sucked it all back up in their spaceship straws when they were done.

This is a particularly hilarious explanation from people who will, in another context, steadfastly explain away the ordering of the fossil record as a natural result of more mobile animals running uphill for safety. Pre-flood world must have been like rubber, changing shape whenever creationists wave their hands!
