Post Are atheist any different to sun, moon, wind, etc.god believers?

Atheist say the universe is the all and the everything and the rules of nature and physics etc. this is what they see and what they believe in. they use this to explain evolution and other things etc.

they claim they are so advanced in technology, science, biology, etc.

in the past people who believed in the wind, the sun, the oceans, the moon, the rain etc said similar things ie. they can see these things and can figure how it affects their lifves so believe in them.eg. it rains and water makes plants grow. the wind blows sand in my eyes, the sun makes me hot,etc...

What is the difference between them and the now so called "educated" atheists??

they all fail to explain "how" it came about, they merely describe or explain what they see.

how advanced are this new breed of atheists really???

I still believe in the wind, the sun, the oceans, the moon, the rain etc. But because I am "so advanced in technology, science, biology, etc" I know much more about how rain makes plants grow, wind blows sand about, and the sun makes things hot.

Are you saying it's bad to know about such things?

And how are modern theists more "advanced" than those who thought that rain was poured out of Heaven by the gods?

jojo-san,

What do we believe nothing. The question (as an example) should not be: " do you believe the sun exists" but rather: "How good is the evidence that the sun exists" . The answer is : pretty good.
You see science doesn't believe anything and continuously questions itself. That in sharp contrast with a stagnant religious belief.
And by the way, we don't pray to the sun. Although she is quite essential.

You know more but still dont answer "how".You know that water is need in photosynthesis etc. answer where did the rules come from not what he rules do. you are no different .....form this statement

never said its bad to observe the universe and see how it operates, it is for sure a good thing.

Show me how you are different? if you wish to start another thread by asking questions about theists, then by all means start a thread and ask the questions.

The ancients might have believed in them. Nowadays people - unless they are insane - simply believe that the sun, the oceans etc. exist.

Ridiculous.

Do you claim that meteorology does not explain how a hurricane arises, astrophysics do not explain how stars come into existence, and evolution does not explain the diversity of life on earth ? Just to give a few examples.

People in glass houses - e.g. those who believe that "God did X" by itself is an explanation for X - should not throw stones.

(Hint: you need in addition an explanation for God).

HRG.

If I were a moderator of this forum, this thread would be in RR&P by now. It's surely lowering the standard rather. Up to you guys of course, but I suspect Queen of Swords is hungry...

I note that jojo-sa has been unwilling to consider the questions of where Allah came from, how Allah came into existence, what purpose Allah serves, etc.

What's the difference?

The difference is that we try to find out how these things work, rather than simply inventing an answer and insiting that it's true.

Religion is a description of how some people would like the world to be. Science is an ongoing quest to determine how the world actually is.

And atheism is a recognition of the fact that, as far as we can see, no gods are required.
