Oops! I think I should clarify that the book to which I was referring was not a serious work It was written simply to show how a case could be made out to show that things which we assume to be true may not be.

So I thought if the n-t's say Jesus neve existed I remembered this book on Hitler.........I'll be clever.......backfired again!

Yeah, malookiemaloo, my bell didn't ring over the hitler book ~ it was the inevitable forthcoming disingenuous implication regarding truth, knowledge, myth and the existence of some desert heretic that was murdered for his outspoken perspective regarding the oppressive religion of the day.

What was your point for bringing this particular subject up? If I may venture a guess, were you attempting to make some sort of correlation between bogus (but as you put it �overwhelmingly� convincing) claims about Hitler in order to somehow tie that to those who disbelieve in either the historical existence of Jesus or His divinity?

My reasoning was this.

Since joining the SW a month or so ago I encountered for the first time in my life,I may add, the view that Jesus never existed. To be honest I did not anticipate this.

I remembered that in 1969 or thereabouts there was a book circulating which produced arguments proving that Hitler did not exist. It was not a serious book but sci-fi'sh in style and content.

However I do remember that, as I said, the arguments were remarkably convincing eg photographic evidence was easily dismissed out of hand. I don't think it was specifically a Christian book but I just wondered if anyone on the SW had heard of it.

Obviously if the arguments were as convincing as I remember them I would place them before those who deny Jesus's existence.

I wonder how we will view Hitler in 2000 years time?

I'll probably be dead by then, but who knows.

I certainly hope that the people of the future will have the ability to evaluate our history and learn from it. If we have done our jobs right, they will learn from all of history rather than using just one philosophy as a basis for their lives.

We should do the same.
