Default The unforgivable sin

According to the NT:

LUKE 12:10, "And everyone that says a word against the Son of Man, that will be forgiven; But he that blasphemes against The Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

MARK 3:29, "Whoever blasphemes against The Holy Spirit will never have forgiveness, but is guilty of everlasting sin."

MATTHEW 12: 31-32 "Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. And whoever shall speak a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age, or in the age to come".

The simple interpretation would be that myself, and many on this board, are doomed even if we do eventually "See the way". I have done some quick research and it appears that salvation is still possible. Yet the scripture seems to be clear.

Talking We could use it as defence ...

Just blaspheme against the Holy Spirit in front of the next Jesus salesman that comes your way, claim that you are thus unsavable according to the Scriptures and that he or she shouldn't waste their time.

Has anyone tried that yet?

No one, including Christians of course, have a clear consensus of what it means 'to blaspheme the Holy Spirit'.

Some say it can't be done, these are the ones who think it means to add something on to or change the Bible or to give Satan credit for something Jesus did.
Others claim it means final impenitence, refusing Jesus' gift of salvation even after you’re dead.
I don't think it refers to thinking relgion is hooey or calling the HS a pooh head or something.
Who can say.

I think it means denying that our very Being is in itself the only deity.

Of course each of us colors this mysterious sin with our own beliefs.

It's probably a good thing we don't know exactly what it is.

It's something that we know is there but it's way is barred from us, even while knowing that it exists, like the pathway back to the garden of Eden being barred by an angel - you cannot go there.

I have been told that aguy wrote an entire book dedicated to jokes about the holy spirit. He reportedly died from strange circumstances.!

Just food for thought

Default Gaddamit

ok here I go...

damn the Holy Spirit, the forgiveness of sin, the communion of saints and life everlasting.

damn to you to God the Father, creator of heaven and earth...

and damn to his only begotten son who was crucified, died and was buried.

like hell it should be possible! my job is to sin--his job is to forgive.

My take on this was: Salvation comes through the Holy Spirit tugging at our hearts. If we open ourselves and receive His message, we will believe in Christ and be saved. If we die without receiving Christ, then we have blasphemed the Holy Spirit and we have damned ourselves to hell.
