Default If I am empty....

If I am empty, ie. no soul, just my brain computing away, then who is in me?

If there is nothing in the glass, what is the glass?

Jesus said: If the flesh came into existence because of the spirit, it is a marvel. But if the spirit (came into existence) because of the body, it is a marvel of marvels. But as for me, I wonder at this, how this great wealth made its home in this poverty.

If there is something in the glass, what is in it?

Darth Dane,

What are you talking about? What is a soul?

There seems to be no one in me. I am me. The only things that are in me are my organs, bones, etc.

Sincerely,

Goliath

[i]What are you talking about? What is a soul?[/i9

I don't know what a soul is. But if tehre is no soul as described in the bible and other places, what is in me?

You are in you?

There seems to be no one in me. I am me.

But who is this "I" that is talking?

The only things that are in me are my organs, bones, etc.

So you are not you organs? Are you not your brain? As the brain would also be in you.

HelenM Is that quote from the gospel of Thomas, DD?

Yes, Helen it is number 29

Define "soul".

How big is a soul, how much does it weigh, what colour is it, where does it reside? By what mechanism does the soul interract with the area in which it resides, and if the soul only exists in some undefinable mythical realm, how can we detect the interface? Why has the soul never been detected? What is the difference between something that doesn't exist and the human construct labelled the "soul"?

Answer these (and more) questions using facts and irrefutable evidence, then maybe your OP will start to make sense. But until then, in the real world, it means nothing.

Define "soul".

How can I define something if I don't know if it exists?
I am to define the unknown?
How so?
Because I hold a belief?

Darth Dane,

Then why are you trying to yammer on about something that you know nothing about?!

I see no connection between the existence or nonexistence of any god and whether or not a soul (whatever that is) exists.

The human that is typing this reply to you. Why do you ask such inane questions?

Quote:

So you are not you organs?
No, my organs are a part of me. I am not my organs.

Darth Dane,

Mathematicians have to do this all the time. In fact, in a recent paper by my advisor, he had a definition for a certain type of mathematical object, but he wasn't sure at first that such an object existed (he did, however, find an example...but it was very difficult to construct).

Answering question(s) with questions: Excellent technique, but in this case, a diplorable tactic. Offering the unknown and unprovable in explantion of the same is just a little disingenuous don't you think?

I am asking you. IF there is no soul, which we can't prove, what is in me? Who am I?

IF There is a soul, what is the soul?

I see no connection between the existence or nonexistence of any god and whether or not a soul (whatever that is) exists.

The bible sees a connection.

If I can't see a soul, or prove it either way conclusively.
Then if I can't see "God" I can't prove conclusively if it exists, and if it exist how to describe it.

The human that is typing this reply to you. Why do you ask such inane questions?

Because I cannot see if an angel is talking through you, if they exist that is. How am I to determine who you are? UNless by teh words you speak.

No, my organs are a part of me. I am not my organs.

You are not your body. If you are not your body who are you?
