Post Bible vs. other holy books

Haggling with christians over the existence of God seems to often swerve towards the argument that bible is just like any other of the thousands of holy books out there. Christians, with the leverage of apologetic websites, counter this by showing the fallacies and errors in these other sources, and even if they admit that bible might have some mistakes itself, they pester me to to admit that bible is at least the most plausible alternative as far as religions are concerned. This notion bothers me a little bit... not because non-religion would be in any jeopardy, but rather because then I can't use the "bible is just a story" whacking stick with impunity.

So. The question I'd like to ask is, if bible is such a load of nonsense, what other religious scriptures out there come close to challenging it in terms of historical accuracy and/or outside references?
