the rest of this stuff is what I was expecting was going on. Christians not satisfying you in the discussions. I am probably not satisfying that right now. But I do many times say "It's faith based" or "I don't know". Of course, there are usually 10 immediate posts ripping apart such admissions. I also am frustrated by "answers" to questions I pose. I many times feel like posters are hiding behind science, similar to the believer hiding behind faith.

As an example, I pose a question like "What do you think caused the Big Bang" - and the response I get is usually something like "the question in nonsensical because science has shown that since we can't measure time in such small increments, once we trace back to 10 to the -47 of a second after the BB, then nothing prior is relevant" (or something like that). But that reply from such person isnt a sin.</strong>
If you look at the thread, it goes beyond not satisfying. You are at least attempting to engage in discussion. There are those that are deliberately not forthcoming. If they do not wish to discuss anything with me they can ignore me or at least say, "I have nothing to discuss with you." But the deflections and evasions are clearly deceptive.

I am not here to defend atheism. There is nothing to defend; atheists ARE free to form their own opinions on life and existence, it just so happens that they CHOOSE not to base it on religion, as is their right under the constitution.

I find it interesting that you bring up the big bang. There is not doubt that a battle rages between science and religion. It is not about the big bang or evolution or the heliocentric solar system or even the shape of the earth. At its essence, it is the battle of the authority of nature vs. the authority of god. God is going loose yet again because nature exists and god does not. The rest is just details.

RJS:

I don't think that's the type of response Starboy was referring to. Certainly we've all gotten answers we don't find satisfactory. I think he is instead referring to the following type of behavior.

A poster puts forward a statement. When he is confronted with a sound refutation, the original poster proceeds to feign indignation and refuses to converse any further with his adversary. After that, the original poster repeats the assertion in another thread until somebody else confronts him and the same cycle happens all over again.

It is so common it could be a cliché.

I would like to suggest an experiment. I propose we adopt a designation for deceptive Christians. May I put forth:

YACCD - yet another case of Christian deceit.

Any Christian exhibiting self deception or a consistent pattern of repeating the same old tired arguments even after they have been refuted soundly would also qualify.

We could test each of the new Christian arrivals and then determine if we were dealing with a person of integrety or just another lost mind.

Comments?

I don't know where you got the idea that these boards are about 'testing other people's integrity' or that it's appropriate to form some sort of 'self-appointed committee' to do so.

These are discussion boards for discussing concepts and ideas and opinions and beliefs, not other people who post.

Anyway this seems to be more of a rant than a discussion, to me. If you want to rant about Christians why not go to the Rants Raves and Preaching board?

Amos, you better be out of your mind. Because if you are not, you may become the poster child for YACCD.

That's good because I was thinking this thread was a bit short on humor, until then
