This month the Michigan Bar Journal appears to lament that a brick as be removed from our beloved wall. It also gives a studied analysis of the Zelman v. Simmons-Harris voucher case.

Justice Stevens characterized the majority’s opinion as ‘‘profoundly misguided.’’ He shares Justice Breyer’s concern regarding the need for a clear separation between church and state: ‘‘Whenever we remove a brick from the wall that was designed to separate religion and government, we increase the risk of religious strife and weaken the foundation of our democracy.’’
