Post Question for Douglas J. Bender: How does a belief in God rule out evolution?

Any theist is invited to answer this question, but I'm specifically directing it to Douglas, because I find him to be intelligent and articulate, a forceful defender of his viewpoint, and a person who possesses the courage of his convictions -- as opposed to David Matthews, for example, who in another thread has revealed himself to be a pillar of pabulum. His God belief seems to boil down to: I like feeling good. The idea of God makes me feel good. Therefore, God exists.

Douglas, am I right in saying that your view of God rules out evolution? If not, please correct me. If so, I ask: Why? I am a recent lurker/poster, so if this has been covered in another thread, please direct me there. But if not, I'd appreciate your feedback. Personally, I cannot see any relation whatever between the issue of evolution and that of God belief. What is the relation? Is is that you believe the Book of Genesis is literal history? If so, why do you believe this? To me, it is obvious that the Book of Genesis is allegorical, allusive, and mythopoetical That is precisely what gives it so much power, like all great art And if God created the universe, the universe is the greatest work of art of all.

Depends what type of God. IMO, a micromanaging God does rule out undirected evolution, but a God who just "started the ball rolling," as it were, does not.

Still hoping to hear from Douglas, but I reiterate this question to any creationist: Why? Why does evolution rule out God? If it were possible to incontrovertibly prove evolution, would you feel compelled to abandon belief in God? Why?
