Angry The ugly face of Islam

Browsing through an Islamic forum I came across a thread by a woman who wanted advice on her 3 week old daughter. And what was this advice?? If she should have her baby daughter circumsised or not! She wanted to know if it was demanded by the Koran or just recommended. I think she lived in America too where I don't know if it's illegal as it is here in UK. She got various replies, one woman replying was outraged (someone with a bit of sense) and a few other's namely male said the main problem was not in the circumsision itself but the doctors who performed it needed educating about the right way to do it i.e not to take too much off, not to botch it up or mutilate her. I was disgusted but did not reply as I have been subjected to vicious abuse from muslims for debating with them in the past so I've given up as it got way too scary. I'll have to go back and find the url as I didn't bookmark it if anyone wants to see it for themselves, let me know and I'll find it again.

What site was the forum located? I'd be glad to know, I'd love to polish my Arabic a little bit more...

Hey, you said "The Ugly Face of Islam", implying there is a pretty face. Is there really such a thing? Nah, just joking. Sufi Islam is a lot more tolerant and humane than the fundos we usually get to hear on the news

Allahu Ahbal!

Anyone interested in a Middle Easterner's critique of Islam should read Why I Am Not A Muslim by Ibn Warraq, available from Prometheus Books.

I have heard many argue that Sufi Islam is liberal only in comparison with hardcore Islam. Otherwise, they too believe in Jihad and everything else.
does anyone here have any personal experience about this?
