Default OOOPS, Did I bust Kent Hovind?

I just recieced this E-mail from the Smithsonian Institute,

Your correspondence of 30 March 2003 regarding Kent Hovind has just
been
received in this office. We have forwarded your request to the
Institution's Department of Anthropology at the National Museum of
Natural History, from which a response will be forwarded if helpful
information is available.

Thank you for your interest in the Smithsonian Institution.

>>> I saw this and wondered if you have publicly
challenged this man, and demanded a retraction. This
is a very serious charge, and it seems to me that he
should have to answer for it.

The Smithsonian Institute [sic] has 33,000 sets of
human remains in their basement right now as you are
reading this. Many of them were taken while the
people were still alive. They were so desperate to
find missing links, so desperate to prove their theory
that they murdered people to prove it.
Source: Unmasking the False Religion of Evolution
Chapter 4 - a transcript of Kent Hovind's early
sermons circa 1996. Still available at
http://home1.gte.net/dmadh/hovind4.htm

Thank you

I doubt anything will ever come of it, I'm sure they were aware of this, but, who knows?

That Hovind (is it hoe-vind or ha-vind?) is one crazy bastard, I hope they do something.

In the 1800s, there were major collections of human remains deposited at the Smithsonian, mostly skulls.

Native American casualties/victims of the "indian wars" of the late 1800s make the majority of the collections, but there are all race/ethnic/national groups represented. There (as I recall) a fair number of executed criminals of various origin as well.

Most of the remaining Native American bones are being destroyed by their surviving tribal leaders, along with a good amount of the historic artifacts stored by the Institute.

Of course, no anthropologist commited murder to obtain a sample of bone.

Looking forward to the Department of Anthropology's response, Butters. Please post it for us as soon as you get it.

Hovind and others (although Dr? Dino is the worst offender) have been getting away with this sort of slander for all too long.

But I wonder if they will merely send you another, "Thanks fer yer interest, etc." and forget it. What with funding being cut everywhere, they might not want to have the hassle that Hovind would surely give them (perscuted-Christian-whine-snivvle-shriek, and so forth).

Wishing luck.

Yea, Doov, I'm sure the smithsonian has better things to do than pursue this kind of nonsense. And I bet their attitude is it's better not to give the guy any free publicity.

Thanks for the link, RBH, you know, that stuff is really funny until you realize that a lot of people believe it.

I have an idea. We all should send Smithsonian a similiar email asking them to respond to Hovind's (hoe' vind) comments; then maybe they'll have to make some type of statement.

Then again, I'm a dreamer....:boohoo:

IIRC from a sermon I saw when he came to town a few years ago, it's closer to HOE-vind. At least, I think that's how he pronounced it.

If that's how HE pronounces it then that's probably the wrong way.
