Default Fear of God and Hell

How do Christians (the ones that believe in eternal torture) deal with the concept of Hell?
I’ve read many posts that move the responsibility of Hell from God to the person dwelling in Hell.

Two examples:
Hell is a place for those who wish to dwell in sin. Their "torture" is self-inflicted.
Hell is the result of someone’s actions. They ‘choose’ to go to Hell.

But, as you’ve heard hundreds of times, the answer is, “No one chooses to be eternally tortured.”

One real life scenario that comes to mind is the Inquisition. I’m sure many were shocked and disgusted by the proceedings. But most kept their opinions to themselves. Why? Because to question or to come to the defense of the victims would have drawn unwanted attention from those in charge.

Here are my questions:
Is not holding God responsible for the existence of Hell a result of fear?

Do you fear that if you question the existence of such a place that you will anger God and possibly be sent there yourself?

(I rarely leave Miscellaneous Discussion, so this question has probably been asked before)

I guess there is not enough Hell believing Christians on II.
If anyone is interested, here is a link to a thread on a Christian website asking the same questions.

I would never follow a god that could allow such a thing as the Christian hell to be in existence, that is why I do not believe it.

I believe in god's nature to be little less sadistic.

Amen to that!

I have heard them say Satan is in charge of hell.

No, not at all, because I have eaten from the tree of life.

You mean you're immortal? What is the tree of life, in your opinion?

In my eyes, the only tree of life is faith.

That's not what I was implying by my previous posted statement.

It is the trio comprising of the intersection of the combination of all possible experiences with my regular conscious experience and my memory set. A weighty branch, I might add.

Yeh. Faith you will one day clear the intersections.
